Connectivity:
Connectivity is very important to determine a phone’s capability of accessing internet and transferring any files. The Bold 9780 offers 3G with HSDPA, Wi-Fi with UMA, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, and still the standrd microUSB 2.0, while BlackBerry Torch 9800 wins a little point by its 3G network which empowers the HSDPA and HSUPA. Size & Weight:
Bold 9780 looks wider and much more elegance with 114 x 66 x 15 mm and weighs in at 136 g, while Torch 9800 is a bit heavier with 161 g, though it 111 x 62 x 14.6 mm measures only.
Camera:
BlackBerry is informed as one of the hottest smartphone in the world, even the Bold 9780′s predecessor, the Bold 9700 is crowned as the best selling smartphone last year, but it seems a bit strange to get a 5MP camera on its upcoming device. However, it is still acceptable, for the camera features 2592×1944 pixels, autofocus and LED flash. Instead of the Torch 9800 is much better by offering features like geo-tagging, continuous auto-focus, and image stabilization.
Display:
Torch 9800 has a larger display with its 3.2 inches screen size, while Bold 9780 offers a 2.44 inches only. The rest of the display both phones give some specs, in which Bold 9780 has TFT and 65K colors with 480 x 360 pixels, while Torch 9800 offers TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and 360 x 480 pixels.
Performance:
When it comes to compare the Bold 9780 to the Torch 9800, what we will get is a shared point because both phones are running the same BlackBerry OS 6.0 and 624 MHz processor.
Storage:
As for storage capability Torch 9800 is much better, for it has 4 GB storage with 512 MB RAM and 512 ROM and the microSD capability allows users to use up to 32 GB (4 GB card included). On the other side, Bold 9780 only offers 256 MB storage and 512 MB RAM, while the expandable microSD is up to 32 GB and 2 GB card included.
Battery life:
The Bold 9780 has 408 hours of standby time and 6 hours of talk time, while the Torch 9800 gives 336 hours of standby time and 5 hours and 40 minutes of talk time.
